Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has a Multi-Agency Search & Rescue Team that can deploy in the event of someone being lost or injured in the Bankhead National Forest or in the case of a natural disaster. This team is composed of many different agencies throughout the county with many different disciplines all with one common goal of coming together as a team to complete the mission.
This team is made of deputies, officers, firefighters, EMT’s, paramedics, and other volunteers. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office was granted an Advanced Life Support-Non Transport Emergency Medical Service provider license by the Alabama Department of Public Health Office of EMS. This will be very beneficial in the event of a search and rescue where someone is injured and is in need of medications or IV fluids prior to being extricated from the wilderness or in cases of natural disasters wherein available Emergency Medical Provider resources are limited.
